Getting the Most out of your Wedding DJ

Planning a wedding can be fun and exciting – after all, it’s one of the most important days of your life! It can also be nerve-wracking and stressful. Choosing the date, compiling the guest list, selecting the perfect gown and hiring the right caterer can be endlessly tiring. Choosing the perfect wedding DJ in Phoenix doesn’t have to be a daunting task though, if you do it right. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your wedding DJ.

  • Tell them about specific music selections you want: Don’t just assume the DJ will have all of the music you and your guests want. Of course, you need to tell him the song you and your spouse want to dance to first as a married couple. Mother/son and father/daughter songs should also be communicated. If the DJ doesn’t have them, then you may have to supply them, but a reputable DJ will know where and how to get your music selections. Also give him an idea of what you want played for your guests. Are they country fans or rockers? All of this needs to be communicated well ahead of the big day.

  • Make sure the DJ is familiar with the venue: If they’ve never worked at your chosen venue before, it’s important to give them a tour beforehand. This way they can plan the best spot for all of their equipment and can make sure that they are visible, yet out of the way. Speakers, amplifiers and other equipment can take up a lot of room, and want everything to be strategically placed so they can be heard, but your guests won’t have music blaring in their ears.

Communication is key when working with your DJ. If you’re working with a wedding planner, make sure he/she is aware of your specifications as well, so they can co-ordinate with the DJ directly.
